About us:
The New Light Duo is a harp and violoncello duo established in 2023 by RCM students Ian Lim and Nok Him Chan. Aiming to promote new music and music from diverse cultural backgrounds, the duo has performed music ranging from folk music to world premieres of new works, while striving to expand repertoires for harp and violoncello with new possibilities of sound and ideas.
The duo is London-based and has performed at venues including 11 Downing Street, the Royal College of Music Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall, Performance Hall, Museum, Cafeteria, and various churches in London. The duo made its debut in Belgium in 2024 and was a semi-finalist at the Big Little Music Competition. The duo had been part of RCM Super Strings Sunday, Chamber Festival, FestivAll, and will perform as part of the Bloomsbury Festival in 2025.
